Major: Crop Agribusiness
Hometown: Clinton, IL
How did you choose your major? I picked the Crop Agribusiness major due to its flexible nature of learning agronomy and business, allowing me to learn two fields and career paths.
What do you do outside of the classroom? Outside of classes I work for a local corn and soy grower helping with the busy season during school. I am also a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity where I am the Professional Development Chair assisting the members in being able to talk to job recruiters confidently, and effectively and assessing the overall quality of their resume.
What are your plans after completing your undergraduate degree? My plan for after school is not entirely decided as of now. Previous employment with companies going from least recent to most recent is FS, Advanced Agrilytics, and Bayer. Before my Bayer internship which finished this August, I had an in-depth agronomy role working firsthand with local growers to make more sustainable decisions for the next market year and the years to come. The internship I held with Bayer was an Interim FSR role in Southwest Nebraska. I was very blessed to be given such an awesome experience getting to see a completely different side of agricultural sales and understanding that not one area in agriculture is uniform. After that internship, my focus is primarily honed in on a sales role.
What is one thing you would like others to know about the Department of Crop Sciences? One thing I would like an undergraduate student in the Department of Crop Sciences to know is that the staff truly cares about the student body, and they want everyone they interact with to enjoy being involved with the department. The staff truly wants to see us succeed.
