Why or how did you pick your major in the Department of Crop Sciences?
I originally came to UIUC as a crop science major as I wanted to do something with fruit and vegetable production. However, after coming here, I discovered my love for technology and computer science as well, so I switched my major to the combined computer science + crop science major.
What is your favorite part of being a student in the Department of Crop Sciences?
The faculty are really nice, there are so many research opportunities, and we work with plants!
Tell us a little bit of what do you do outside of classes?
- I am currently working as a software developer intern at Cargill in Research Park
- I am the head grower for the UIUC Horticulture Club (Was president for 2.5)
- I am currently a teaching assistant for organic chemistry I
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I’ll be working with John Deere’s Intelligent Solutions Group in Des Moines, Iowa as a product engineer.
What is one thing you want people to know about being an undergraduate student in the Department of Crop Sciences at the University of Illinois?
There are so many opportunities, and the community is so big that there is a place for everyone if you look hard enough!
